Mac Miller may have thought his May car crash was behind him, but the rapper has now been officially charged with a DUI.

According to an Aug. 21 report from TMZ, the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office filed the charges against the Pittsburgh rapper, which include one count of driving under the influence and one count for driving with a BAC of 0.08 or higher. The Swimming artist was able to avoid the hit-and-run charge that he was originally booked for.

If Miller is convicted of his charges, he faces up to six months in prison plus a $1,000 fine. However, most first offenders are let off with probation, community service and a suspension of license.

In July, Mac opened up about the crash and revealed it was the best thing that could have ever happened to him. "I needed to run into that light pole and literally, like, have the whole thing stop," he told Zane Lowe of Beats 1.

"What you don’t understand is that I lived a certain life for 10 years and faced almost no real consequence at all," the rapper continued. "I had no version of the story that didn't end up with me being fine. Yeah, I made a stupid mistake. I'm a human being. Like, drove home drunk. But it was the best thing that could have happened... I needed that."

Up next for the "Self-Care" rhymer, he has recruited 2018 XXL Fresh J.I.D and Thundercat for the upcoming Swimming Tour. The trek is set to kick off on Oct. 27 in San Francisco.
