One of the U.K.'s fastest-rising rap stars is headed to trial. According to The Guardian, J Hus pled not guilty to carrying a lock knife in a public space this past Friday (July 20) and he will now head to trial for the case this coming December.

The rapper, whose debut album earned critical acclaim upon its release last year, was originally arrested for carrying a knife on June 21. At the time, he was pulled over by an unmarked police car while he was at the Westfield Shopping Centre in Stratford, East London. Hus was let out on  £100,000 ($131,965) bail on July 3.

Before his unfortunate arrest, J Hus had built himself a sizable amount of momentum on his way to becoming one of the region's bigger rap stars. Last spring he dropped off his debut album, Common Sense, and quickly established himself as someone to look out for. Last November, his Common Sense single, “Did You See" won him the trophy for Best Song at the 2017 MOBO Awards.

Continuing to add to his buzz, Hus dropped off his three-track Big Spang EP at the end of May. With a trial ahead of him, Hus will have to take at least some of his attention off his rap career as he prepares to fight for his freedom.

On Nov. 15, Hus will return to court for a pre-trial review. His actual trial is all set to take place at some point in the two weeks after Dec. 10.
