Fat Joe's former business partner in a New York sneaker company called Up NYC has been sentenced to nearly three years in prison after pleading guilty to wire fraud.

According to a July 24 report from the New York Post, Scott Spina, also known as Scotty Kickz, was handed down his 35-month sentence on Monday (July 23) in a Newark federal court. Spina had previously plead guilty to the charge in April. Along with the nearly three-year prison term, Spina was also sentenced to three years of supervised release and has been ordered to pay restitution of $516,396.33

The U.S. Attorney's Office says Spina used credit card information obtained from his customers to make purchases without their knowledge. The 21-year-old even contacted his credit card company to falsely claim that fraudulent purchases were made on his account.

Following the news of Spina's sentence, Fat Joe did his best to distance himself from the 21-year-old on Twitter, retweeting the New York Post report and saying that Spina is not a friend of his. "Let's be clear this guy stole from me stop acting like he's a friend please," the "Don't Know" rhymer tweeted on Wednesday (July 25).

Fat Joe, who recently dropped off a new song with Dre and Chris Brown called "Attention." opened Up NYC in Nov. 2016 with then 19-year-old Spina. Just a few months after their grand opening, Spina and Joe were sued on February 2017 by Cayan, the payment processing company that handled the stores credit card sales for $318,815 over allegations of credit card fraud.
