Despite being in the belly of the beast for the last few years, Bobby Shmurda is in good spirits.

On Friday (July 13), the Brooklyn MC's mother gave an update on the incarcerated rapper's status to fans. "My baby said 'BIG SHMURDA ON THE SET SHOW SOME RESPECT,'" she captioned a jailhouse photo of the rapper wearing prison-issued slacks, a tank top and dark shades.

She added, "He is maintaining great spirits and will be home before you know it!!!!!"

The "Hot Boy" rapper is currently serving a seven-year prison sentence at New York's Clinton Correctional Facility for conspiracy in the fourth degree and criminal possession of a weapon. He has been locked up since 2014 when he was apprehended during a sting operation along with several members of his GS9 crew at Quad Studios in New York City.

He was initially hit with a slew of charges including additional conspiracy in the second degree, three counts of conspiracy in the third degree, reckless endangerment in the second degree, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree and one count of criminal possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to a report in April, he could be eligible for parole in 2020. His parole hearing is August 2020, and he could be eligible for early release from prison on parole as early as December of that year. Of course, that means the Brooklyn rapper must be on his best behavior in the mean time. He already has as a number of strikes on his prison record that include violations for drug possession, fighting and possessing a shank.
