6ix9ine scored his first top 10 hit this week with "Fefe" featuring Nicki Minaj and Murda Beatz. The song debuted at No. 4 on the Hot 100 chart dated Aug. 4.

Tekashi shared the track and its accompanying colorful music video on July 22. Aside from pairing two popular New Yorkers for the first time, the release earned buzz for coming hours after 6ix9ine claims to have been pistol-whipped, robbed and hospitalized. Days after the song dropped, Minaj added the rainbow-haired rhymer to her upcoming world tour with Future.

"Fefe" passes "Tati," which peaked on the Hot 100 in June at No. 46, as 6ix9ine's highest-charting single. It's Nicki's seventh top five song, respectively, and her first since featuring on Ariana Grande's 2016 single "Side to Side." Murda Beatz, for his part, earned his first No. 1 plaque in April for producing Drake's chart-topper "Nice For What." Drizzy's "In My Feelings" topped this week's chart.

Tekashi celebrated the honor by dancing in a puddle on Instagram. "Young Michael Jackson .. I know my security hates themselves like why we gotta protect this little bitch," he wrote in the caption.

The achievement comes amid considerable legal turmoil for the Brooklyn rapper born Daniel Hernandez. He currently faces charges for choking a teenager in Houston and assaulting a police officer in New York. It's unclear how the two cases impact 6ix9ine's outstanding plea agreement for a 2015 sex crime involving a minor.
