6ix9ine is back in legal trouble. The Blast reports that the "Gotti" rapper was arrested by New York police on Wednesday (July 11) for misdemeanor assault.

Authorities nabbed Tekashi at JFK Airport, where he just landed after a string of tour dates in Europe. Police detained him on a months-old arrest warrant charging the rapper with choking a 16-year-old at Galleria Mall in Houston.

Video emerged after the Galleria altercation went down in January that appears to show 6ix9ine forcefully grabbing the alleged victim Santiago Albarran's hoodie. Albarran later wrote on Twitter that the Brooklyn rhymer held his sweatshirt until he deleted footage of their interaction on his phone.

At the time, Ugly God defended his friend, claiming that the phone footage in question showed Albarran walking up to Tekashi and saying, "Ewww its actually the gay ice cream truck. It's a walking lollipop. I'm right next to it." Albarran's family ultimately reported the incident to police and documented multiple scratch marks on the teen's neck.

6ix9ine is currently being held in custody, awaiting Texas officials to transport him across state lines. However, New York authorities don't plan to extradite him, according to The Blast.

This is just Tekashi's latest run-in with police over the past few months. He was arrested in May for driving without a license (which also happened to be suspended) in an incident that culminated in the rapper allegedly assaulting his arresting officer. 6ix9ine has denied assaulting any cops. He is also under NYPD investigation for his suspected connection to an attempted shooting targeting Chief Keef. The Brooklyn MC previously pleaded guilty to the use of a minor in a sexual performance.

XXL has reached out to the NYPD and received word that 6ix9ine, born Daniel Hernandez, will be held until a court hearing to find out if he’s going to be extradited to Texas. The process will likely take around a week.
