XXXTentacion's lawyer, David Bogenschutz, spoke out today (June 19) after the 20-year-old rap star was gunned down in Deerfield Beach, Fla. late yesterday afternoon (June 18).

According to Bogenschutz, the platinum-selling artist was killed outside of RIVA Motorsports after making a visit to the bank. “I think the determination was that he wanted to buy a motorcycle. But [detectives] aren’t discounting any theory," he told the Sun Sentinel, referring to the tragedy as "a random robbery."

The 2017 XXL Freshman was in his BMW i8 yesterday when two gunmen reportedly ran up to the vehicle and began firing. Two videos immediately began circulating the internet showing an unconscious X, who was reported dead about an hour later at Broward Health North, according to authorities.

Dozens of hip-hop artists and fans responded to the news with tweets and photos, including J. Cole, Diddy and Kanye West. The Kids See Ghost emcee admitted XXXTentacion served as an inspiration to him, while Cole shared the situation has him "fucked up." "Enormous talent and limitless potential and a strong desire to be a better person. God bless his family, friends and fans," he added.

Among those to pay their respects was Ski Mask The Slump God, who appeared to be in a state of shock upon hearing the news. Just last week (June 15) the 2018 XXL Freshman spoke to Lyrical Lemonade about the relationship between him and his longtime friend and collaborator, whom he'd just made up with a few weeks back. "It was a tense moment seeing X again... I haven't seen X or spoken to X since other times of us not being on good terms. Seeing him was funny to me. He came kind of angry, he wasn't really trying to talk. It was great though," Ski remembers.

Despite his string of legal woes, XXX appeared to be attempting to do better for himself and fans. According to his last Instagram story yesterday, the "Infinity (888)" rapper was planning a charity event in his home state, set to take place this upcoming weekend.

Per usual, Twitter users took it upon themselves to identify two men they believe to be the gunmen, though both have strongly denied the claims.
