XXXTentacion’s Ex-Girlfriend Reacts to His Death

XXXTentacion's ex-girlfriend Geneva Ayala has responded to the rapper's fatal shooting yesterday (June 18). Writing on Twitter and Instagram, Ayala expressed remorse over X's death and criticized people who expected her to find satisfaction in the 20-year-old's passing due to his alleged history of abuse.

"i want to scream at the top of my lungs until i can’t then keep screaming. i don’t want to believe this. no one knows. the shit. i feel. for you," Ayala wrote last night in the caption for an Instagram post of what appears to be a drawing of the two together.

She shared more thoughts this morning on Twitter (June 19), asking fans not to equate her experience of XXXTentacion's alleged assaults with his alleged murder.

"i know y’all don’t fuck w me, but this isn’t about me. just please stop tagging me in disrespectful threads and arguments. i honestly don’t care for any of the hype. i lost someone close to me. leave me alone," Ayala wrote.

She continued, "it’s disgusting that people are speaking for me. i don’t care if no one cared about me however many months ago, i didn’t lose my life. he did. it’s permanent. i’m still here. like how do you think that makes me feel? everyone expecting me to be relieved or happy?! no, i’m broken."

Ayala has testified in court that she met the rapper born Jahseh Onfroy in person in May 2016 and moved in with him shortly afterwards. In that same testimony, she said X assaulted her throughout their time living together, including while she was pregnant, when the "Sad!" rapper allegedly punched her in the eye, head-butted, elbowed and strangled her.

Ayala started a GoFundMe in October 2016 to raise money for surgery required to repair bone fractures in her face and left eye socket. In the hours since XXXTentacion's death, she received a surge of donations and, as of press time, had raised over $32,000, enough to afford the surgery, according to the Miami New Times.
