Lil Wayne Has Meeting to Discuss ‘Tha Carter V’ Release Date

It's been years in the making but it appears Lil Wayne's Tha Carter V is finally close to seeing a release date. During a performance on Sunday night (June 24) at the Story nightclub in Miami, Weezy told the crowd he recently had a meeting to discuss the long-awaited album's release date.

"Just to let y'all know, I had a meeting today—it wasn't a long meeting—but just so you know the meeting was about the release date of Tha Carter fucking five," Lil Wayne told the crowd, who erupted into cheers.

While Tha Carter V has had multiple release dates in the past, it appears the album may actually see the light of day following Tunechi's departure from Cash Money Records. Earlier this month, Weezy's lawyer, Ron Sweeney, confirmed Wayne and the label had reached a settlement.

"Per our settlement agreement, the matter has been amicably resolved to the satisfaction of all parties," the lawyer told Billboard. "In terms of the particulars, we’re prohibited legally from saying anything further. I can say that my client is happy. He is his own man, a man that owns his assets, his music and himself. At some point, Wayne will let his fans know what’s going to happen next."

Although the lawyer did not reveal monetary details about the settlement, The Blast reports the deal was worth more than $10 million and claims Universal Records, not Birdman, will pay Weezy.
