London rapper, J Hus, is currently behind bars after he was arrested and charged with suspicion of carrying a knife in London.

An unmarked police car stopped the 23-year-old rapper, born Momodou Jallow, in a vehicle at the Westfield Shopping Centre in Stratford, East London on Thursday (June 21). After searching the vehicle, officers arrested Hus on "suspicion of being in possession of a knife/bladed article," reports The Guardian. The MC was denied bail at Thames magistrates court on Friday (June 22). This means he must remain behind bars for roughly the next month until his trial date on July 20.

Hus is a well-known young figure on the U.K. rap scene. XXL labeled him as a U.K. spitta to be on the lookout for last March along with buzzing artists Stefflon Don, Nadia Rose, Loyle Carner, Kojey Radical and more, noting his knack for "meshing together afrobeats, reggae and grime all into one sound." Last year was a big year for Hus as he signed a deal with Epic Records and won the 2017 MOBO award for Best Song for his single, "Did You See." He was also nominated for a 2017 Mercury award, eventually losing out to Sampha.

Hus is less than a month away from dropping the surprise project, Big Spang, a three-song EP which features the titles "Dark Vader," "Scene" and "Dancing Man." He is currently prepping the release of his sophomore album, the follow-up to 2017's Common Sense.
