Count A$AP Ferg among the crowd hoping Drake doesn't, as rumored, back down from responding to Pusha-T's latest diss. The "Plain Jane" rapper gushed about the beef, claiming that it's reviving lyricism, during an appearance on DJ Whoo Kid's podcast Whoolywood Shuffle on Wednesday.

"I love that shit," Ferg said. "We need that shit. We need that shit because I'm getting a feeling that when Nas said hip hop is dead, he was onto something."

He continued, "We're losing the art of lyricism, and just being able to be witty with words. Like, what happened to that? Like, what about being sharp on your feet, having an IQ? What about reading a book so you could have more shit to talk about? I think that that was being lost, and then, you know, Pusha and Drake, they just resurrected it. They sound like classy niggas going at it."

Ferg started his career as a battle rapper, so it's no surprise he supports head-to-head verbal combat. But more than that, it sounds like the rapper appreciates Pusha and Drake's beef as a motivational tool.

"You don't understand how happy I am about this battle," Ferg told Whoo Kid. "This shit gives me a reason to want to wake up and listen to music."

Regarding the beef, the latest news is that Rap-A-Lot CEO J. Prince claims Drake recorded a response to "The Story of Adidon," but will not release it, after Kanye West specifically requested as much. Aubrey is expected to release his project Scorpion this month, so we'll see.

Ferg, meanwhile, just shared a new song, "Harlem Anthem," from the soundtrack for Kyrie Irving's new movie Uncle Drew. He also recently guested on Madeintyo's song, "Ned Flanders."
