Eric B. is still reaching major milestones some 30 years into his life as a hip-hop icon. The acclaimed DJ will be making his first foray into the world of TV when he appears on a May 2 episode of ABC's The Goldbergs.

The Goldbergs, which premiered on ABC back in 2013, is a semi-autobiographical comedy that focuses on a young man and his familial experiences growing up Jenkintown, Pa. It's based on the life of creator and executive producer, Adam F. Goldberg.

In the episode, titled “Opportunity of a Lifetime,” Eric will be playing the role of a club manager at New York City's CBGBs club. For his part, Eric's character will be the whistle blower for Erica Goldberg (Hayley Orrantia), who, after dropping out of college to form a rock group, takes a job performing at CBGBs. When Erica's group tries to deliver their own rendition of a classic tune, Eric stops them because covers aren't allowed at the spot.

For Goldberg, getting to work with Eric B is just another sign that his job is, in fact, pretty awesome.

“One of the best parts of creating this show is that it has enabled me to form some cool friendships with true icons that I admired as a kid,” said Goldberg, who also says Eric played a pivotal role in making the TV series, Baywatch, an international phenomenon.

He continues, “I grew up listening to Eric B. & Rakim. There is video somewhere of me rapping to 'Eric B. Is the President.' My mind was blown when Eric B.’s Manager Uncle Louie reached out and said Eric really relates to the show.”

Goldberg still hasn't gotten used to hanging out with the rap legend. “I am still star stuck whenever I hang with Eric B. and I get nervous when he texts me,” added Goldberg. “After every show, he checks in and asks me questions or pitches something great we should tackle. Obviously, I had to make him part of the Goldbergs world and I hope to bring him back more to act. He was really funny.”

For his part, Eric B. is pretty psyched, too. "Oh man, it was great,” said the hip-hop legend, who hit the road with his partner Rakim last month. “I felt like I was part of the family. You know Adam’s my man and I love the show, so shooting that scene was a lot of fun. There are so many talented people on that set. I’m just happy to have been blessed with the opportunity.”

Fans can see Eric B.'s TV debut when the latest episode of The Goldbergs airs on Weds., May 2 at 8 p.m. EST / 7 p.m. CST.
