It's Memorial Day, which means people all over the U.S. are celebrating those who lost their lives serving in the armed forces. The holiday hits home for Big Sean whose late grandmother was a World War II veteran.

The Detroit rapper hopped on Instagram on Monday (May 28), to send out a heartfelt tribute to his nana, who he says has a special place in armed forces lineage. "Grandma you were a true legend, an American hero, black history at its finest. ONE OF THE FIRST FEMALE BLACK CAPTAINS IN WORLD WAR II," he captioned the series of photos. A few of the pics show the woman in her uniform, while one photo, which shows Sean and her posing for the camera, is a newer image that is labeled, "The last pic w/ my love."

Sean added in the caption, "I wrote One Man Can Change The World about you because that’s what you taught me, told me and showed me. Your blood runs through my veins so you’re still here far as I’m concerened! Happy Memorial to all the Veterans n RIP Mildred Virginia Leonard ❤️."

In music-related news, Sean is putting in work on his new album. He had a spring tour scheduled, but postponed the 31-city trek to focus on his new project. He was recently featured on YG's new song, "Big Bank," alongside Nicki Minaj and 2 Chainz.
