Meek Mill recently backed out of a meeting at the White House that was slated to tackle the topic of prison reform. There are some people that don't think it was a great idea to miss out on the opportunity to possibly mull over important issues with President Trump, no matter how strange it may look to those on the outside. Anderson .Paak is in that group of people.

The Cali rap-crooner was interviewed by TMZ on the topic on Friday (May 18), while walking in New York City. "I think if Meek Mill had his mind set to go and do what he had to do, I think he should have did that," Anderson said, noting his views on prison come from a place close to home. "My mom was in prison for seven and a half years, and I know that that's a big issue, a major issue, prison reform. That shit need to be rectified A.S.A.P. It's so much cheap labor that goes into it. It really does need to be magnified and looked at. And Meek is the man for that."

Though others have received backlash for working with Trump, Anderson doesn't see how anyone could clown this scenario. "If they would have went in and did something, worked together, came out with something that actually helped the situation, that's what you want," he added. "Who gives a damn, if that's what it is. We got how many more years with this dude? It's like, 'OK, this is what it is. Let me show you, this is what needs to happen.' And they come together and make something happen. What? How can you hate on that?"

Meek released a statement on why he backed out of the meeting. "Unfortunately, the focus turned to the President and myself which concerned me that it might take away from creating a positive result from today’s discussions," he wrote in part. "As a result, I decided not to attend, so that the focus would be solely on fixing our prison system. Most importantly, I remain fully committed to improving our criminal justice system.”

It is unclear if Trump would have actually been present in the White House meeting.

On the music side of things, Anderson just dropped the new banger "Bubblin'" along with the music video.
