The first day of the 2018 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is in the books and it went out with a bang as The Weeknd closed out the festivities on Friday night (April 13) with a huge headlining show.

Abel performed in front of a massive set up, and emerged on stage from a crack in a huge statue of a face performing the song "Pray for Me" off the Black Panther soundtrack. The Canadian crooner's new project My Dear Melancholy, got plenty of run, as he gave the crowd tracks like "Call Out My Name" and "I Was Never There."

His entire catalog was at play as he also gave the amped concertgoers previous hits like "Starboy," "Secrets" and "Can't Feel My Face." Abel closed out the 20-plus song set with the smash "The Hills."

Weeknd's performance ended a big night which also saw performances from Kyle, Belly, Daniel Caesar, Kali Uchis, SZA and Vince Staples who bring out Kendrick Lamar.

The fun continues today with Day Two which will feature sets from WizKid, Flatbush Zombies, Tyler, The Creator, BROCKHAMPTON, Post Malone and Beyoncé. On Sunday (April 15), acts like French Montana, Migos, Cardi B, Amine, DeJ Loaf, Russ and Eminem will close out the weekend.
