Eric B. & Rakim may have famously released "Eric B. Is President" in 1986, but the hip-hop legends are now all about Cynthia Nixon for governor.

The former Sex and the City star is running for governor of New York and made an appearance at Eric B. & Rakim's April 9 show in Irving Plaza to try and get some votes. "I know that Eric B. is president, but I'm here 'cause I want to be governor of New York state," the actress told the crowd. "I was born here, I grew up here with my mom in a one-bedroom, five-flight walk up."

Nixon announced she would be running for Governor of New York in March, hoping to challenge the incumbent Andrew Cuomo. In an interview last month with Glamour, Nixon opened up about her platform revealing her plans to be a "real Democrat."

"A real Democrat doesn’t slash taxes on the wealthy," she said. "A real Democrat doesn’t slash corporate taxes. A real Democrat doesn’t give away billions of dollars in economic development money to his cronies and his donors with no strings attached."

In related news, Eric B. & Rakim are currently on their 2018 tour, which kicked off on April 8 in Boston. Up next for the legendary duo, they will make stops in Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Atlanta, Houston and more before wrapping up on May 3 in San Francisco.
