Del The Funky Homosapien and Amp Live Share New Song “Wheel of Fortune”

Del The Funky Homosapien, a living rap legend, and Amp Live, a multi-genre producer, recently joined up for their forthcoming album, Gate 13. Their first offering from the project is "Wheel of Fortune," a lyrical exercise from Del over a beat that veers from spacey hip-hop to vintage reggae.

Del jumps right into it, wasting no time. "Straight from the gate, I'm gassin'/Dribbling, not from glasses/Hacking I'm not gon' pass it/Foul, get an elbow to match it," he raps with a choppy flow, that still somehow meshes with the beat. "Settle the racket, sit at the bottom and lay/Just like a ship in a bottle that's the model they faced."

A little later on in the song, Del keeps up his pace. "Never satisfied, but that's not my problem at all/Next time you scream in my ear, I'ma holla at y'all." Shortly thereafter, the production changes to a ska beat, mainly pushed by piano keys. Serving as an interlude of sorts, Del starts to rap on a stripped-down version of the original beat, and he doesn't miss a step. "They off a little, it's like trading a yacht for a box of Skittles," he spits. "It's not no riddle/I don't joke around/Why, when it's so many jokers to go around?"

Del The Funky Homosapien and Amp Live's album, Gate 13, drops on April 20. As he was preparing to make the album, Del decided to expand his horizons a bit, studying battle rap and comedy to see if it could improve his artistry. “I’m trying to be more concise with my writing and my art in general," he explained.
