Before the 2018 XXL Freshman class will be revealed this summer, the Freshman hopefuls are here to show and prove why they deserve a spot in this year’s class. The 10th Spot voting has officially launched, which means hip-hop's rising newcomers are vying for a spot on the 2018 XXL Freshman cover.

Few rappers can share the experience of life in their neighborhood like Mir Fontane. The proud New Jersey native released a project named for his Camden hometown, full of stark reality and hope for the future of his city. The songs "Frank Ocean" and "Down By The River" took off, with both tracks combining for more than 4 million streams on Spotify. His 2018 single "New Friends," which features Kodie Shane, is picking up, and his latest project, Macaroni Tony dropped a few days ago. As an artist who isn't afraid to both entertain and rap with substance, more success is on the way.
