Best Songs of the Week: Lil Yachty, Rich Homie Quan and More

We're hurtling through this year, and the new music releases keep coming. This week, we're hearing from all sorts of names—newer acts to old favorites. Lil Yachty exchanges verses with Tee Grizzley on "Get Money Bros." while Rich Homie Quan drops his latest single, "Understood." See which tracks make our pick in the best songs of the week.

Lil Yachty's oft-delayed and highly anticipated mixtape Lil Boat 2 came out today, and it features a lot of his friends and previous collaborators. With that said, it only makes sense that Tee Grizzley makes an appearance. Their latest track is "Get Money Bros.," where the duo keep their hot streak going. Yachty sounds perfect rapping alongside Grizzley, where they both flex all the spoils of the rapper life.

Rich Homie Quan's refreshed outlook on life and music is apparent, which only builds excitement for his upcoming album Rich as in Spirit. His latest offering is the Nard & B-produced "Understood," where he takes stock of his life so far, and keeps an eye on the people around him. Rapping and singing over the swirling production, Quan sounds like he's in a good place.

Logic, much to the surprise of his fans, freed Bobby Tarantino II this week. Early on in the mixtape, the song "BoomTrap Protocol" sticks out. While borrowing elements from modern trap songs, he puts a spin on the style and makes it his own. The creeping beat suits him well, and with lines like "The greatest alive, bitch I been it/Now go on your business can I get a witness/Been smoking and drinking a little bit/There's level's to the litness," Logic's versatility shines through.

Fan favorite T-Pain has always been known for his ability to both rap and sing, but he went right to the bars on his remix to Cardi B and 21 Savage's "Bartier Cardi." The rapper-turned-singer puts his verse at the beginning of the song and shreds his verse. T-Pain sounds like he never took a break: "Pull up in the party in a 'Rari/Hoppin' out a 'Rari with your shawty/My other bitch pull up on a Harley/My other bitch smokin' on Marley."

Joey BadAss and XXXTentacion seem like they are from different spectrums of rap on paper, but their freestyle over Kendrick Lamar's "King's Dead" says otherwise. Joey leads the song off, bragging a little more than usual: "At 17 I made six figures/Immature young rich nigga." X takes the second spot, running through a multitude of flows, and even stops to take a breather in the middle of the song. This new partnership looks like it's going well.

03 Greedo's new mixtape The Wolf of Grape Street, released today. The second song is "Ballin'" featuring Ketchy the Great, and it's a banger in every sense of the word. The production is a muffled trap offering, and Greedo's catchy hook and humor help steer the track. Plus, "Get all the bread like a panini" is a funny way to open a verse.
