It looks like selections from Childish Gambino's epic Awaken, My Love! album will finally get just the sort of glorious, national audience they deserve. On Thursday (Jan. 4), it was announced that Gambino, perhaps equally well-known for his born name Donald Glover, will take the stage to perform at the 2018 Grammy Awards. It will be his first time performing at the typically star-studded awards show.

It's fitting this is Gambino's first performance at the Grammys, as he's also been nominated for a few awards, including Album of the Year and Best Urban Contemporary Album (Awaken, My Love!) and Record of the Year, Best R&B Song, and Best Traditional R&B Performance ("Redbone"). Depending on when—and if—he takes home W's for any one of those nominations, his performance could serve as the ultimate victory lap for a successful night.

Last June, Gambino had seemingly entertained the idea of retiring from music all together. But based on the fact he's been in the studio with Quavo and Lil Yachty—and, of course, the fact that he's so good at what he does—that definitely doesn't feel all that likely.

Still, the rapper/comedian/singer's been pretty busy with other stuff as of late. He's been shooting Atlanta season two for a while now. Salute to Gambino.

Also set to take the stage at the 2018 Grammy Awards are the rapper's fellow nominees Lady Gaga, Little Big Town and P!nk. CBS will air the awards show on Sun., Jan. 28 at 7:30 p.m. EST.
