Lil Peep fans gathered on Saturday (Dec. 2), to mourn the death, and celebrate the life, of the late rapper.

A multitude congregated at the Allegria Hotel in Long Island, N.Y., the rapper's hometown. According to HollywoodLife, the event was packed. The rapper's mother, Liza Womack, and his grandmother, Jenny Kastner, offered kinds words about their family member before opening the floor for fans to express their love for Peep, born Gustav Ahr, through speeches and letters.

It's been roughly two weeks since Peep passed at the age of 21, from an apparent drug overdose in Tuscon, Ariz. His family and fans are still reeling, and as more information comes out, it only leads to more questions. Lil Peep's brother thinks the death was an accident.

“We [the family] have heard there was some sort of substance he did not expect to be involved in the substance he was taking,” said Oskar Ahr. “He thought he could take what he did, but he had been given something and he didn’t realize what it was.” He added, “It was an accident, it really was an accident. He was super happy with where he was in life.”

Arizona detectives continue to investigate the matter, which includes a possible link to the opioid fentanyl. This is sadly another case of a talented hip-hop artist gone too soon.
