In July, the hip-hop community lost another member when Fresh Kid Ice of 2 Live Crew passed away at the age of 53. Now, the late rapper's cause of death has finally been revealed.

According to a report from TMZ, the Miami-Dade County Medical Examiner says contributing factors to Fresh Kid's death include cirrhosis of the liver, Hepatitis C and a history of alcohol. The rapper also suffered from acute respiratory failure and went into shock before his death.

Born Chris Wong Won, Fresh Kid served four years in the U.S. Air Force before linking up with DJ Mr. Mixx and Amazing Vee to start 2 Live Crew in 1984. The group later signed to Luther Campbell's record label, who eventually joined the crew himself.

Known for their risque lyrics and raunchy videos, members of 2 Live Crew were once arrested for obscenity after one of their Florida shows became too raunchy. The group also famously went to trial and defended their music as free speech.

Following Kid Ice's death, Uncle Luke was one of the first people to send his support to the rapper's family. "My Condolence goes out to the family Chris Wong Wong Fresh Kid Ice of the 2 Live Crew who just passed away people we lost a legend," he wrote on Twitter.

The Medical Examiner's office also signed off on a request for Fresh Kid's body to be cremated and sent to a funeral home, although it's uncertain if the body has already been cremated.
