Meek Mill Enters General Population in New Prison

Meek Mill is in a very sticky situation having been sentenced to two to four years in prison for violating his probation. But the Philly MC received one notch in the win column after he was removed from solitary confinement as requested.

As previously reported, earlier this week, the Dreamchasers MC asked to be put in general population instead of solitary where he has been placed because of his celebrity status. Solitary requires that he is in a room by himself for 23 hours of the day, seven days a week. Meek has been transferred to a new prison, the State Correctional Institution in Chester, Pa., where he has been given his own room and placed in general population, TMZ is now reporting.

Fans and supporters have been fighting for Meek since he was sentenced. A huge rally for the rapper was held in his hometown of Philadelphia earlier this week and attended by the likes of Rick Ross and PnB Rock. The Philadelphia 76ers' co-owner wrote a letter to a judge in support of the MMG MC. Even JAY-Z voiced his opinion on the injustice in the New York Times.

Meek's lawyers are trying to get him out of the situation altogether. They are claiming the judge who sentenced Meek has a personal vendetta against the rapper. On Wednesday (Nov. 15), they filed documents arguing that he should be released from prison and also requested a bail hearing for the Philly rapper.
