A year after dropping Hitler Wears Hermes IVand five years after releasing the original Hitler Wears Hermes mixtape, Westside Gunn has announced the fifth entry in the series, Hitler Wears Hermes V.

Set to release on Oct. 31, Westside revealed he hasn't even begun working on the project but would start shortly. In honor of the first project's five-year anniversary, the rapper wrote a lengthy Instagram post detailing how the mixtape came to be.

"5yrs Ago today I posted this Image nobody knew who WSG was there was no such thing as GRISELDA, Conway was still recovering from being shot in the head BUT I HAD a vision, late night studio sessions where the engineer went to sleep I had to wake him just to press record bc he didn't believe in me," he wrote.

Westside then went on to write that while in 2012, when hip-hop was about standing on couches and popping bottles, he wanted to bring "boom bap" or "the hard fly shit" back. "I took a chance with the title and imagery either it was gonna work or my career was over before it started," he wrote.

A new mixtape isn't the only thing fans of the rapper can expect. It was also revealed that a vinyl reissue of Hitler Wears Hermes would be released. Westside wrote, "This makes the 5th yr Anniversary so for that not only am I gonna bring this Classic on Vinyl to complete the series I think for its 5th Bday I'll drop PART 5 I haven't even started it but I'm about to make it in these next 3days."

Aside from the upcoming project, Westside also has another record in the works. In September, it was announced that the Buffalo rapper would be teaming up with MF Doom for a joint project. “it’s official WESTSIDEDOOM is here prod by ALCHEMIST & DARINGER this is one of the illest projects I’ve ever heard when u think ART, this is it the RAWEST, FLYEST, GRIMIEST shit you’ve ever heard IN YA LIFE wats dope than FLYGOD & DOOM spread the gospel the day is soon cometh,” wrote Westside on Instagram. A few weeks later, the rappers released the first track from the project, "Gorilla Monsoon."
