Cardi B's win of the Spirit of Detroit Award has ruffled a few feathers, and it looks like Royce 5'9" is one of those who aren't happy with the feat. The Detroit native posts a new rant on Instagram, condemning his city for giving the "Bodak Yellow" star the award, believing she hasn't proven enough to have earned it.

Royce starts off the video (below) by stating that the record industry "does not care" about Detroit, and even makes references to his own tracks representing the city, including "Detroit Vs. Everybody."

"Detroit, when y'all gon' cut it out with the goofy shit?" he begins. "When are we going to stop being so politically correct? This is not a politically correct business. This record industry does not care about Detroit. Where you think the 'No Fly Zone' came from? Where you think 'Detroit Vs. Everybody' came from? If we don't put action behind those words, that's just letters on the shirt. Nothing more than letters on a shirt."

He then makes sure to emphasize that he has love for Cardi B, but says the Bronx MC doesn't "know shit about the spirit of Detroit" despite winning the award. Royce also mentions how Cardi hasn't even been honored in the same way in her own city yet, and it should have gone to Kash Doll.

"I love Cardi B just like everybody else, but Cardi B don't know shit about the spirit of Detroit," he continues. "She ain't even receive the Spirit of New York Award yet. What the fuck is we giving her an award for about the spirit of our city? I'm a Spirit of Detroit Award recipient, [but] that took the umph out of it for me. Give Kash Doll the goddamn award. Y'all gotta stop it man. Y'all gotta stop it. We must stop it. We gotta start looking out for our own artists. That's the only way we gon' move as a city. When are y'all gonna see that?"

Kash Doll also expressed her frustration with the rising superstar winning the award, and called the move from the city "disrespectful" on Twitter. So far, Cardi has yet to respond to any outrage over her latest accomplishment.
