Power 105.1's  annual Powerhouse concert is a memorable experience for any rap fan. However, this year, the show at Brooklyn's Barclays Center was impressive. And no, not just because of Cardi B. Let’s delve deeper.

The concert was sold out—unfortunately there were reports of a stampede due to people trying to enter the building—proving the likes of Lil Uzi Vert, The Weeknd and Migos had some seriously dedicated fans. At approximately 7:30 p.m., the lights dimmed and Powerhouse was set to begin. Charlamagne Tha God and Angela Yee walked to the middle of stage, hyping the crowd for the acts they were all anticipating. “And no, Envy’s not hiding. He has his own set!” Charlamagne joked.

Then, almost immediately after, Kranium hit the stage. His performance of “We Can” and “Nobody Has to Know” had the arena in a trance as concert-goers vibed out to the reggae beats, filling themselves with $12 beer. Rotimi, of Power fame, joined him near the end of his set, to the surprise of all, making it the smoothest—and calmest—performance of the night.

The event revved up rather quickly once DJ Envy hit the stage. Tapped to bring out some special friends, many assumed he would welcome Fetty Wap to perform their collabo "Text Ur Number." “Fetty Wap missed his flight,” Envy yelled to the disapproving crowd. “I know, I’m disappointed, too. But we got Brooklyn in the house!”

The instrumental for “Don’t Run” began to blast through the speakers as Casanova ran across the stage. Being that the event was being held in his hometown, Cas made it his duty to shut the stage down. Shortly after performing a medley of songs, Envy cut his performance to bring out A$AP Ferg, to the delight of all. Everyone was on a “New Level” as he performed all of his recent singles, including “Plain Jane” (which, notably, was recently remixed by Juicy J).

Now when we say nobody was ready for the next performer, we mean no one. As soon as Envy yelled “Buss” the crowd roared as the legendary Busta Rhymes hit the stage. Just in case the audience forgot, Bussa spit a rapid-fire sweet 16, busting out his bars from Chris Brown’s “Look at Me Now.”

After Busta’s near-perfect performance, Tee Grizzley walked out to “No Effort,” sending the crowd into a frenzy. He also performed “First Day Out” to the satisfaction of all his die-hard fans.

Then, the lights began to rearrange, and a short while later, French Montana presented himself. After shouting out everyone from GS9 to the late Chinx, French performed for about 20 minutes, ending his set with “Unforgettable” as the colorful video played in the background.

After French’s performance, the DJ announced Lil Uzi Vert was next up. After a rather long intermission, the screens lit up with Uzi’s name and the man of the hour appeared. As he performed tracks from Luv Is Rage 1 and 2, the Philly spitter turned Powerhouse into a rock concert as he walked though the crowd shooting flicks and videos with fans. He then went on to perform "XO Tour Llife"  twice, letting the fans sing it themselves the second time. There’s really no way to describe the amount of energy Uzi had—it was just one of those “you had to be there” moments.

Once Uzi ended his set, everyone got in formation for Miss Cardi B. The diva walked out with platinum blonde tresses and shut Barclays down. No exaggeration. After the crowd seemed to lose their voices due to screaming the lyrics to “Bodak Yellow” and “Lick,” Cardi shocked the crowd by bringing out G-Eazy, who joined her to perform their hit “No Limit,” sans A$AP Rocky. They snapped photos with the crowd before exiting. This was, without a doubt, one the most exciting performances of the evening.

Cardi's performance preceded Migos, who went on to perform all of their hits from this past year, including "Bad and Boujee." Everyone hit the Uzi shoulder as the song blasted, and then the trio previewed their new track "Motor Sport" with Cardi and Nicki Minaj.

Then it was time for The Weeknd to arrive. If you've never witnessed this man perform live, you're seriously missing out. Women and men alike screamed out his songs at the top of their lungs as he danced and sang "Starboy," "Earned It" and "Often." As if the night needed any more stars, Travis Scott jumped out to join Abel and performed "Butterfly Effect." If The Weeknd didn't already have everyone standing up, Travis surely did the job.

Despite ticket holders being turned away at the door due to the stampede, the night was a positive one for hip-hop. Check out the night's performers in the gallery below.
