20 of the Best Lyrics From Rittz’s ‘Last Call’ Album
As far as independent rap artists go, Rittz has been among the most consistent, delivering quality material while continuing to build his profile and broaden his fan base. After a decade of working nine-to-five while pursuing his career as a rapper, Rittz got his first big break when he was contacted by rapper Yelawolf, who took Rittz under his wing and featured him on his song "Box Chevy" in 2010, as well as "Growin' Up in the Gutter" from his 2011 studio album, Radioactive. This collabo gave Rittz widespread exposure and set the foundation for him to step into becoming an artist full time.
Releasing his own debut mixtape, White Jesus, in 2011, on Yelawolf's Slumerican imprint, Rittz would gain acclaim for his rapid-fire deliver and carefree personality. After hitting the road alongside Yelawolf on his Slumerican Tour in 2012, Rittz would pique the interest of Tech N9ne and Strange Music, with whom he inked a record deal that same year. Following his new deal, the Georgia rep dropped his debut studio album, The Life and Times of Jonny Valiant, in 2013.
Taking advantage of high-profile opportunities, such as his appearance in a cypher at the 2013 BET Hip Hop Awards, Rittz would build upon his momentum, releasing Next to Nothing, in 2014, and Top of the Line, in 2016. Each album strengthened his reputation as one of the more talented lyricists on the indie scene.
With his buzz bigger than ever, Rittz returns with his latest offering, Last Call, a collection of 16 songs and five bonus cuts over which the Strange Music artist shares his pain and glory.
XXL delved deep into Last Call and picked out 20 of Rittz best lyrics from the album.

"In the booth of the 2-1-4 on stage faking, you thinking it's all good/I was just in a green room, had me crying looking at my lady lie in a pool of her own blood/Through a text, cut herself for something that I had done/Overseas, but I always get followed by bad luck/Bad time, I call on my homie but he ain't wanna console me, instead he told me that Top of the Line sucked"
"I don't use a bunch of ad-libs to distract fans, I combine the real with the metaphors and bars/From the wheel struggling to get a deal/Through the valley in the hills, like you tryna win the Tour De France/You can't tell me I don't kill shit, put me up in the Coup de Ville feel with a foreign car/But 10 years and I'm still lit, now my Colorado homies in their 20 past four o'clock"
"Showing off, spread my feathers like a peacock/I'm a keep grinding til the day Ifinally got it, diamond on my finger bigger than a Ring Pop/Finally in a sweet spot, you can hear the beat drop/Rumble in the sheetrock, why you tryna eavesdrop/In a hotel with the Molly Ringwald, in the field like I took a pill of the diesel"
"Pourin’ top-shelf liquor in my cocktail/The CLI-N-TEL Crew comin' like the cartel/Double-timing, but that’s how I feel/Better stay up in your lane, get in mine, hit the guardrail/Trynna work, but the cards dealt/And still flex on ’em like I’m doing curls with a barbell/Traffic in and out my house like it’s a yard sale/I be in the crib with a blonde bombshell"
"Being an entertainer, yeah beats a 9-to-5/Sometimes I'm scared there'll be a day where he runs out of rhymes/Sick of having to repeat himself a thousand times/But be careful, you'll get eaten, these mountain lions/Surrounded by these wolves and they're dressed like sheep/Some people walk while I'm living my dream/But to settle ain't Rittz, I ain't gotta a Plan B/Give the fans all I got, jump ship by six"
"You a lame, using slang I ain't accustomed to/Saying 'what the fuck the I do' like when a lady wake up naked in the bed, laying, that's a Dr. Huxtable/Was you uncomfortable, wonderful/I'll hit a blunt with you then go and crush a box of Lunchables/Smuckers Uncrustables and a couple packs of Gushers/Bust a bag of Ruffles open, started cracking Dutches"
"I don't recognize you, we only met once/Even if we met twice on a night when I wasn't that drunk/I still don't recall what they fuck your name was/What it look like bitch, since you calling out nanes in a homeroom class/Hell nah, hear my speakers still bang in my old school Lac/Think everybody lame like tryna bring boat shoes back/Muthafuckas who kept their guns, knowing damn well that they won't shoot back"
"You can tell me that you made a mistake and judge a book by its cover when they discover my music, but that don't make any sense/If you gotta glimpse of me and you can see I'm a player illuminating, then you basically as lame it gets/Probably couldn't relate to me if you made an attempt/Customizing all my sneakers and I lace ’em with gems"
"I be bellowing, I'm finally off the road, any baggage, I'ma leave it with the bellhop/Shell-shocked when I came home 'cause I see a bitch when I'm peeking in the mailbox/Any bastard can ask that the stash that I had is a brag to my homie in the jailhouse/I can help now when you get out, I be well off, haters say hell nah"
"Lost a 9-to-5 and the house where she lived/All her belongings that she used to own are gone/Stunting when her mom wanna move into her home/Now they gotta go remove a tumor from her throat/Let you know that what you're going through could be worse/Such a strong person, I could never be her/Hoping all the chemo and the surgeries work/The redness on her neck is from the third-degree burns"
"North side Atlanta ambassador, back for more/The second I see em mash record/I'm spazzing on ’em if they asking for it/The first to put it on the map, so don't be acting like I passed the torch/Ain't got the patience for the back and forth/The murder weapons got me on a wanted poster with a cash reward/I'm short tempered, these boys better be glad I'm on/When I was young, I would jack you for your pack of ports"
"As time went on, you became a good friend, let your guard down, we would smoke and talk 'bout rap/When Slick was in jail you would check up on me, told me call you if I had a problem ’cause you got my back/When you was outta work selling herb, you could hunt the QPs, you would listen to the verse I dropped/Me and you was laughing saying it was ironic that my mama was the nurse when you first got shot"
I went from forging my report card/Skipping courses with my boys, smoking ports up in the courtyard/Good choices weren't going for 'em/Rap and hoping doors would open, I was sure to be a born star/I kept my sword sharp/Rhyming when I finally got a deal with 32, I put the pedal to the floorboard/Proving I could score points for the label, playing forward, steady, waiting for a day to play the point guard"
"Homie on the dog food, thought he got clean/Talkin' to him, all he doin' is nodding out, sleep/Who am I to judge him, hard for me to drink and not fiend/Scared they're gonna find a dead body in the box-spring/Know a lot of cool chicks, some with daddy issues/Hard to tell how many men may have been up in her mouthpiece/Men fuck a ton of women, they get certified pimp/When the shoe was on the other foot, they holler out freak"

"Dope fashion, throwback Girbauds wit' the Bo Jacksons/Coke addicts slaughter they nose, they grow habits/Wont catch a break, fumble the ball when they thrown past us/No ladders, hitter low, you should know what the vocab is/Hoes flashed us back then, now they show us the whole package"
"Drunk, vision like a camera with a cracked lens/Take a fat bitch, fuck her from ass end/Back back, pussy smelling like a bass fish/Class clown, never got to wear a cap as a graduate First period half didn't pass on their math quiz Glad til this rap shit happened, having to adapt to the acting, having to ass kiss/Fuck no, you can blow me like you play the trombone, let 'em choke on my dick like it's a cat gif"
"Minimum wage ain't enough income/Make America great again and trust in Trump/I be looking at the country, what the fuck went wrong/Why the fuck is the water in Flint, Michigan brown/But instead of investing government spending tryna fix it, they gon build a wall to keep illegal immigrants out/Feeling like it's game over, but the ball's in-bounds"
