Despite having put out Cozy Tapes Vol. 1 & 2 this year and his rock solid track record of bodying guest verses, many people associate A$AP Rocky more with his interest in fashion than his music nowadays. Still, that hasn't stopped the Harlem rapper from getting back to basics and working on his newest album, which he says will find him exploring sounds that run contrary to top 100 singles.

"My new album is really about testing new sounds," he reveals in the cover story for the latest issue of GQ Style. "People are scared to test new sounds, so they go with what's current 'cause it's the easy thing to do. The top 100 songs sound a certain way. People cater more to that because it's a bigger demographic behind that, or it's a guaranteed demographic behind that. I prefer to experiment and have my crowd grow with me and to reach new crowds. I don't just rap—I actually make music. That's why it takes time. These sonics represent me."

Rocky goes on to say he recorded a lot of his album in London in order to incorporate the sounds of the city and get away, calling it his "second home." Rocky doesn't have a release date yet, but he plans to get the project out this year.

Elsewhere in the story, Rocky talks about his entrepreneurial exploits, AWGE's new artist Smooky MarGielaa, his new collaboration with Under Armour, his relationship with the world of fashion and how he got a particular scar on his face. All pretty cool stuff to know. We'd really love to figure out when we can really expect that new album, though.
