Pharrell, The Roots and More to Perform at A Concert for Charlottesville in Response to White Nationalist Rally
In response to the march, which eventually turned violent and ended with the tragic death of 32-year-old Heather Heyer, Charlottesville natives Dave Matthews Band are hosting a benefit concert featuring the likes of Pharrell Williams, The Roots, Justin Timberlake, Chris Stapleton, Ariana Grande, Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes, Cage the Elephant and special guests.
Tickets to the event will be free, but attendees are encouraged to donate to the Concert for Charlottesville Fund at the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation. Beneficiaries of the funds will consist of the victims of the Charlottesville protest, as well as their families, and first responders and organizations dedicated to the promotion of healing, unity and justice both on a local level and across the U.S.
Tickets will first be allocated to residents of the greater Charlottesville area and the students, faculty and staff of the University of Virginia. An online ticket request period for the event is already underway, and it will end on Monday, Sept. 11 at 12 p.m. EST. A limited number of tickets can also purchased at a walk-up, no service charge box office on Friday, Sept. 15 at 10 a.m. EST. The concert will take place on Sun., Sept. 24, where the gates at the venue will open at 4 p.m. EST.
