VH1’s Hip Hop Honors special is set for Sept. 18, with this year’s focus being on the 1990s. Hip Hop Honors: The ’90s Game Changers will celebrate pivotal moments from the decade and will include a performance by Missy Elliott. A former honoree, Missy is expected to pay tribute to the decade when she takes the stage.

The event will not only honor memorable moments from the 1990s, but also big acts from the decade. Mariah Carey will be celebrated for her collaborations with some of hip-hop’s biggest names including Ol’ Dirty Bastard, Diddy, JAY-Z, Busta Rhymes and more.

Hip Hop Honors: The ’90s Game Changers will also pay tribute to Martin Lawrence for his popular self-titled sitcom and his movie roles such as the Bad Boys series with Will Smith and Big Momma’s House.

"Anytime anyone wants to recognize you for your work, it's an honor. I am looking forward to a really great night of fun and music," the comedian told Billboard.

VH1 began its Hip Hop Honors show in 2004, when it paid tribute to KRS-One, Public Enemy, Run-DMC and more. Since then, the event has honored the likes of 2Pac, LL Cool J, Snoop Dogg, Russell Simmons, the Sugarhill Gang and MC Lyte. Last year’s show was a tribute to female pioneers in hip-hop and featured tributes to Queen Latifah, Lil' Kim, Salt-N-Pepa and Missy Elliott.

Hosted by Regina Hall, Hip Hop Honors: The ’90s Game Changers will also honor victims affected by Hurricane Harvey and allow viewers to contribute funds for relief efforts. Hip Hop Honors will air Sept. 18 at 9 p.m. on VH1.
