One year after dropping his Red Trap Dragon project with Danny Wolf and just a couple of months removed from dropping Fun Summer 17 Vol. 1., ILoveMakonnen is ready to make another big musical splash in 2017. He reveals as much in a new interview with Rap-Up, where he says he's got a new collab with Rae Sremmurd dropping next week.

"This year, I’ve been working on songwriting and producing," the Atlanta recording artist tells the music site. "I’ve been working on music with other artists for their projects. I’ve been taking a backseat as an artist, but I have a new song coming out next week with Rae Sremmurd and Mike WiLL Made-It that’s been in the works for some months now. We just got everything cleared and ready to go, so I should be dropping that officially."

Elsewhere in the interview, Makonnen reveals that he's working on a new project, and the Rae Sremmurd collab will be featured on it. He says he's recently worked on a lot of new music, and that he's done so by freestyling in the moment before returning to the studio to make his stream-of-consciousness lyrics make sense. He says being able to spend more time on his new music has led to a return to form.

"A lot of people say they want the old Makonnen, where my old songs were very meaningful in a different way to them," he reveals. "That’s because I was able to take my time with them. But I reached a great height of success and there was a call to do music, travel, and just get it. I was like, 'Woah! Let me try this.' But now, I get to go back my roots, how I make music, where concepts come over days and I’ve been thinking about it, observing other people, seeing how it can relate to them, and how it can affect them, rather than just trying to do some quick shit for the moment to get everybody turnt up."

Elsewhere in the interview, Makonnen discusses his relationship with Drake, saying, "From what I’ve heard, it’s all love. I haven’t seen them." He continues by saying people should ask OVO where they stand with him, because as far as the Atlanta rapper is concerned, "There’s no issue or no hard feelings for anybody."

He also calls Lil B one of his biggest influences and says he's recently collabed with Lil Peep. Shoud be dope.
