The drama within Public Enemy takes a new turn as Chuck D has officially responded to Flavor Flav’s lawsuit. The veteran MC spoke to TMZ about the ordeal involving his group and assured that even though he and Flav don't see eye-to-eye right now, the clock-rocking rapper is still in P.E. and they still plan to perform together.

"Flav has his rights, but took a wrong road on this.” Chuck explained, later going on to say Flav “will again be embarrassed admitting on stage about the way it spun out. It’s always this way with him.”

It was announced last week that Flav was suing Chuck D and P.E. producers for unpaid royalties. According to Flav, he hasn’t received the full amount the group owes him for having his voice and likeness used on their latest album, Nothing Is Quick in the Desert, which was used without his consent. The 58-year-old artist also claims he hasn't seen a dime from merchandising royalties or performance fees.

Chuck D told TMZ that while he will be open to hearing Flav's concerns in the future, right now he just hopes his partner "will be woke in rehearsal studio and paying attention to the work we and all the members do worldwide."

Proving he still has love for his crew member, Chuck D also hopped on Twitter to defend Flav's actions.

"People can lighten up on Flav," tweeted Chuck with a drawing of the two rappers. "It's his new mgt that vengefully felt that suing a 3rd party & connecting me was a good move for him #stupid."

Sadly, we doubt we've heard the last of this legal beef.
