Rap pioneer and Hip-Hop Sisters Foundation founder MC Lyte is officially a married woman. Essence reports the rap legend has very recently tied the knot with U.S. Marine Corp veteran and entrepreneur John Wyche in Montego Bay, Jamaica.

Back in May, Essence reported Lyte had gotten engaged, and as we know now, it didn't take too long for them to seal the deal. “It was so beautiful and a fairytale,” Lyte tells Essence. “I got my king.”

The beach wedding Essence describes as "intimate and soulful" took place at the Sandals Royal Caribbean Resort, and the sounds of a reggae congo band could be heard as Lyte and her husband-to-be walked down the aisle. Lyte's friend Kelly Price—who lent her vocals to Kanye West's stunning The Life of Pablo cut, "Ultra Light Beam"—sang to the couple during their ceremonial communion before they danced to the sounds of DJ Jermaine. Sounds like her wedding was every bit as lit as we hoped.

For his part, Wyche was incredibly happy to marry Lyte, whose real born name is Lana Moorer. He's also happy their wedding was a packed one.

“It’s incredible so many people came out to support our union. We are starting out with a strong foundation,” Wyche says. “A few months into getting to know Lana I knew I wanted this woman as my wife.”

Lyte feels the same way. “One day when we're talking and I looked into his eyes. It was so much honesty and truth in his eyes,” Lyte reveals. “My biggest thing with dating was to be vulnerable. And with him, I could totally let go and be myself.”

Lyte and Wyche originally connected on Match.com last year. While most people think of dating sites as a sort of dead-end, Lyte and Wyche's romance has gone the distance. Salute.
