Kyle is having the type of year most new rappers can only dream of and on Aug. 27, he can add another success to his portfolio. The California rapper is now performing at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards.

This VMA's performance will be special for Kyle. It's the first time the 2017 XXL Freshman will hit the award show's main stage. Kyle is also competing for a Best Visual Effects nomination for his RIAA-certified three times platinum hit "iSpy" featuring Lil Yachty.

In a June interview with XXL, he described the feeling of "iSpy" becoming a huge smash. “‘iSpy’ has been the most unexpected event in my entire career,” says Kyle. “I put out ‘iSpy’ just as something to give out to my fans. It wasn’t something that I made happen myself.”

When speaking on what makes his rapping unique to XXL, Kyle details the sunny disposition that has gotten him to this point. “I think my style of rap is just very honest,” Kyle shares. “But almost so honest to the point where it’s like, ‘Okay, you didn’t need to tell us all that.’ I just feel like I have to reveal stuff about myself within my music or else it doesn’t resonate with me… I feel like nobody’s approached music, especially hip-hop music, from this point of view.”

This summer isn't the first time Kyle has performed "iSpy." Two weeks ago (Aug. 13), at the 2017 Teen Choice Awards, Kyle and Lil Yachty, came together for a colorful performance. He's also graced the Jimmy Kimmel Live! stage with the infectious summer anthem.

Make sure to tune into the 2017 MTV Video Music awards on Sunday (Aug. 27) to see the next milestone in Kyle's career.
