Kendrick Lamar’s ‘DAMN.’ Album Is Already Double Platinum

It seems like Kendrick Lamar's winning streak sees no limit, as he has now earned himself another major accomplishment in his musical career. The To Pimp a Butterfly rapper released his DAMN. album back in April, and now, just three months later, it has reached double platinum status.

According to the Recording Industry Association of America, the critically acclaimed project from the Compton MC became certified double platinum on July 10, 2017 after moving over 2 million units in the last three months. One unit is equivalent to one album sale, a total of 10 track sales or 1,500 track streams.

DAMN. originally hit platinum status back in early May, which was just a few weeks after it dropped. It also debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 chart following its release, and moved 603,000 copies in its first week. Kendrick's DAMN. debut became the biggest week for music sales, beating out Drake's More Life playlist album, which moved 505,000 in its first week. Just last week, DAMN. also became the highest-selling album of 2017 so far.

K. Dot is currently on the road with Travis Scott and D.R.A.M. for his DAMN. Tour, which saw it's first stop in Arizona last night (July 12). The kick-off of the tour seemed to be a huge success, as the footage shows the entire crowd singing all of the words to his smash hit, "Humble." La Flame even performed on a gigantic bird.
