Jay Z Collaborates With Damian Marley on New Music
Another day, another tantalizing sign that Jay Z might be working on a new album. Recently, pictures of the Brooklyn rap legend hanging out with Damian Marley in Jamaica surfaced on the internet, and folks immediately speculated he'd collaborated with the accomplished reggae artist. In an interview with the folks at Billboard, Marley confirmed this was, indeed, the case.
Speaking with the pub, Marley explained that he'd hopped in the studio with Hov, who had been to Jamaica before, but wanted to "musically tour" Kingston. While everyone wants to know what project their collab will land on, all Marley knows for sure is he's worked with the Roc Nation boss.
"Well, I did some work with him for some stuff that he's working on," Marley explained. "I'm not really sure of the details of his project in that sense, but we worked on some music together. I've been a fan of his music since he came out. We've never done any musical work together. So that was a joy to finally work together musically."
Hov and the rest of the folks at Tidal had the music industry bursting with excitement when a series of ads with "4:44" popped up all over New York City last week. Fans took the ads as a sign Hov was dropping a new album, but a short time later, the ad was revealed to be a promotion for an upcoming Tidal exclusive film by the name of 4:44. The project will see Mahershala Ali star in the leading role.
So we're not much closer to confirmation on a new Hov album than we were before, but then again, in an age of secret albums regularly dropping out of the blue, we were probably as close as we were going to get to that any way. Stay tuned.
