Today, June 28, is the birthday of famed producer, rapper and A&R Ernest Dion Wilson a.k.a. No I.D.

Born and raised in Chicago, No I.D. dropped his first solo album Accept Your Own and Be Yourself (The Black Album) in 1997. He soon got famous behind the boards as a mentee and ghost producer of Jermaine Dupri. No I.D. helped craft hits for the likes of Alicia Keys and Common and it was Common who introduced No I.D. to a young Kanye West. No I.D. soon became West's mentor in the producers chair and even helped 'Ye get signed to Roc-A-Fella Records in 2000. Kanye credits No I.D. numerous times on his 2004 debut album The College Dropout, calling the beat smith his mentor on songs like "Big Brother" and "Last Call."

As the early 2000's rolled on, No I.D. switched from being a producer to an industry mogul. He has served as the president of Kanye West's G.O.O.D Music, the Executive Vice President of A&R at Def Jam Recordings and founded his own label imprint ARTium Records in 2011, all while maintaining his finger on the pulse of the art form. No I.D. is partially responsible for the careers of Logic, Vince Staples, Jhene Aiko and more.

In 2011, No I.D. formed the hip-hop collective Cocaine 80's with singer James Fauntleroy. Together they've dropped four EP's with another one on the way soon. Adding yet another professional title to his name, 2017 saw No I.D. get named Executive Vice President of Capitol Music Group while also producing the bulk of Jay-Z's 4:44 album.

Happy Birthday, No I.D.!
