Over the last decade, a new group of rappers land on the coveted XXL Freshman Class cover every calendar year, a franchise that hip-hop as a whole—artists and fans alike—dissects and discusses with each cover reveal. 2017 welcomed Generation Next, a young group of talented rap artists spanning from different parts of the country. Each one has a unique flow and some have redefined the term "going viral."

After unveiling all 10 freestyles from A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, PnB Rock, Playboi Carti, Ugly God, Madeintyo, Kyle, Kamaiyah, Kap G, Aminé and XXXTentacion over the last two weeks, it's clear these rappers all offer a different perspective in the game.

XXXTentacion's long-awaited freestyle proved the Florida native has some serious bars while Playboi Carti gave a nod to his hit "Magnolia" during his delivery. Ugly God showed us why he "came up off of 'Water' like Dasani and Fiji," impressing the masses and holding down the freestyle with the most views—he's currently climbing past 2.5 million views on YouTube. A Boogie, the first freestyle released from this year's class, continued to spit about his love trysts, with PnB Rock following up the next day with a deep, two-minute cut about life struggles and his hopes in the hip-hop game.

Kyle gained a new drove of followers with his charismatic, Cali flow, as did fellow state spitter Kamaiyah, whose raw bars have continuously made her a standout from other female rappers. Mr. Tokyo, a.k.a. Madeintyo, gave a shoutout to mumble rap and Kap G touched on his longtime Wraith dreams in his freestyle. And then of course we had Aminé deliver an emotional performance, showcasing his singing skills.

If you thought that was something, just wait until you see the cyphers, coming in July.
