August Alsina's health has been the topic of discussion a few times during the singer's career. Now the NOLA crooner has revealed he suffers from liver disease.

In a recent interview with friend Jada Pinkett-Smith that the singer posted on Instagram, he revealed the diagnosis to the world. "I have a liver disease where my autoimmune system is fighting against itself," he said. "The reality of it is, I'm sick all the time. I don't really like to talk about it because I'm not looking for anybody's sympathy. Don't treat me like I'm a fucking cancer patient, 'cause I'm not," he says in the clip.

In the caption of the video, he opened up more about his issues. "Please excuse my defense mechanism in this clip," he started. "I'm sicker than ever & having a hard time accepting what I feel & what the Doctors are saying is most true. After sitting down and talking with my fathers mother and sister.. They explained to me that sickness & illness runs in my family. My father & grandfather both died of severe illness. 😞😒 but they were FIGHTERS & that's all that matters. 💪🏽✨✨✨. Just ride with me is all I ask."

August has had some public health scares in the past. In 2014, he collapsed during a concert and was in a coma for three days before recovering. In 2015, he had to undergo serious eye surgery to correct issues he was having that were causing him to lose sight.
