Playboi Carti recently sat down with Hot 97's Peter Rosenberg and Laura Stylez to talk about his childhood, his new album, his influences and a whole lot more.

During the interview, the 21-year-old Atlanta rapper talks about linking up with A$AP Rocky via Ian Connor, mentioning the Harlem rapper had the final say on Carti's debut project. He also mentions artists like Gucci Mane, Shawty Lo, Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Rocky and Frank Ocean as people he listened to when he was coming up, and discusses meeting Guwop recently and opening for the Trap God on tour.

But perhaps the most interesting part of the interview comes towards the end, when he names New Orleans MC Curren$y as one of his biggest influences. He mentions listening to Jay Z, 2Pac, Biggie and Nas when he was young before saying, "Curren$y used to be my favorite rapper." Rosenberg goes on to say he thinks Spitta had a big, unspoken influence on a lot of today's mumble rappers, and Carti says he related more to Curren$y than Wiz. You can watch them talk about it starting at around the 18:00 mark below.

After the interview circulated for a couple days, Spitta caught wind of the interview and showed love to Carti on Twitter. See what he had to say after the clip.
