Today, May 18, is the birthday of Ventura, Calif. rapper Kyle! He is now 25!

Hailing from the West Coast, Kyle Harvey grew up on the likes of Ol' Dirty Bastard, The Lox and Jadakiss before getting his style inspiration from Kid Cudi and Wiz Khalifa. Kyle's own rap style is all about relatable positivity. His two most recent mixtapes, 2013's Beautiful Loser and 2015's Smyle helped Kyle carve out his own lane as an upbeat, surf-inclined rapper who can actually spit. To date, the SuperDuper crew leader has worked with the likes of Chance The Rapper, 2 Chainz, Kehlani, Lil Yachty, G-Eazy and more.

"My style has been compared to someone probably like the Fresh Prince," Kyle told XXL during his feature on The Break. "I’ve been compared to Drake before and Kid Cudi. But mostly Fresh Prince. I don’t think anyone has the same music sound as me. I can’t think of anyone else. This is some new shit. It’s like new futuristic-type New Jack Swing rap, if that make sense."

Though he's been grinding for years, Kyle finally scored a breakout single last December with the Lil Yachty-assisted single "iSpy." The goofy banger about spotting cuties peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking Kyle's first appearance on Billboard's Top 10.Riding the momentum of "iSpy," Kyle saw his fame reach new heights when he was selected to be a 2017 XXL Freshman.

For the remainder of 2017, Kyle kept himself busy by jumping into the world of acting. That fall, he acted in the forthcoming Netflix film, The After Party, a movie which also starred Wiz Khalifa and French Montana.

Interestingly enough, Kyle has chosen to use the day he turns 25 to give a gift to his fans. On May 18, 2018, the rapper unloaded his official debut album, Light of Mine, a project that includes features from 2 Chainz, Khalid, Lil Yachty and more.

Happy Birthday, Kyle!
