Kid Capri Says He’s Recorded More Stuff With Kendrick Lamar
Fans are ecstatic to have a brand new Kendrick Lamar album, and so far, DAMN. has received pretty much nothing but outstandingly rave reviews. There were already tons of surprises on the project, including a song about Top Dawg and Kendrick's father and Rihanna spitting raps, and even a now-debunked Easter Sunday theory, but one major surprise came as listeners heard Kid Capri's voice all over the tracklist.
The veteran DJ plays host of the new Kendrick album, but according to Capri, there may be much more material between him and the Compton rapper coming out in the future. While discussing his work with K. Dot, the hip hop icon spoke on his role in the making of DAMN., as well as what could come as far as their future collaborations.
Capri explained, "[TDE] reached out to me, and asked me if I could come meet up with Kendrick. So we sat down and we figured it out. I came to the studio and recorded a lot of stuff, they took what they wanted, placed it where they needed to place it. I think they’ve got some more stuff—there are some more things—coming out later, but for right now, that’s what happened."
Although he plays host on the project, Capri confesses that he just heard the album for the first time after its release, as the rest of us have. He revealed, "I didn’t even hear the album, I didn’t want to hear anything until it was done. So when I heard it last night, that was my first time just like it was yours. And my phone hasn’t stopped ringing yet, man, it’s crazy."
The DJ also says that there is still a lot of material of his that K. Dot and TDE did not use on the album which could come out in the future. He stated, "There's a gang of stuff that hasn’t been used yet. That’s why I said I think he’s doing something later on, or he might be doing something for his show, but there’s a lot of stuff that I put out there." There's no telling what Kendrick is up to, as the rapper has been great at keeping his releases under wraps, but at least fans know that there is more Capri and K. Dot stuff in the vault.
