Nas Approves of Remy Ma Using His Beat for “Shether”

Apparently Remy Ma's "Shether" has been snatched off of SoundCloud and the radio, and the Plata O Plomo artist isn't even allowed to perform the song anymore. Nas wants you to know that he had nothing to do with the move.

TMZ reports people close to Nas say the Illmatic artist has no problem with Remy using his "Ether" beat to diss Nicki Minaj. They claim that Nas would never interfere with a good old fashioned rap battle. Apparently Esco is pointing the finger at Universal for getting the track pulled, as they actually own the song.

"Ether" is a Jay Z diss song Nas dropped over 15 years ago on his album Stillmatic, a project that was released on Universal. The record label reportedly made their moves to ensure Remy won't profit off "Shether" after it became the second most downloaded song on iTunes.

While this might sting fans of the song, "Shether" apparently isn't even a track that Remy is proud of. She said as much during a recent Facebook Live interview on Buzzfeed's Another Round podcast.

“It just bothers me that this record that I put out where it’s literally picking apart a female went so viral, and every media outlet wants to talk about it and pick it up; I feel like we could’ve done the same thing working together,” she said on the podcast.

She continued, “I just personally think it would’ve been so much cooler…if we came together and made something crazy […] It could’ve been totally different. I don’t regret [“Shether”], but I’m not particularly proud of it.”

If Remy isn't feeling "Shether" so much these days, maybe she'll be more up to taking on Nicki's recent challenge. Earlier today (March 10), The Pinkprint artist basically bet $500,000 that Remy wouldn't be able to secure a show or interview without mentioning Nicki and dared Remy to drop a hit in 72 hours. We'll have to see if she's up to the challenge.
