On the morning of the 89th Academy Awards, the entertainment world received the sad news that actor Bill Paxton has passed at the age of 61 due to complications from surgery. Paxton had a storied career with roles in such films as Titanic, Apollo 13 and Twister, with Questlove remembering the actor in an Instagram post below.

"Damn man. Bill Paxton was in a lot of my favorite movies. On the low he was everywhere: #Commando #StreetsOfFire #Tresspass #Stripes #OneFalseMove #Apollo13 #WeirdScience #Terminator #TrueLies #Twister #Titanic #Aliens #Frailty #BigLove," he wrote. Most recently, Paxton starred in the TV adaptation of Training Day.

Following initial reports of the actor's death, Paxton's family issued the following statement: "It is with heavy hearts we share the news that Bill Paxton has passed away due to complications from surgery. A loving husband and father, Bill began his career in Hollywood working on films in the art department and went on to have an illustrious career spanning four decades as a beloved and prolific actor and filmmaker. Bill's passion for the arts was felt by all who knew him, and his warmth and tireless energy were undeniable."
