Its been a long road for Fat Joe and Remy Ma, two of the Bronx's most tenured artists and longtime partners in rhyme. After taking Big Pun under his wing and helping guide him to platinum pastures, the Capital Punishment creator decided to pay it forward and introduce a then-unknown Remy to Joe, who inducted her into the Terror Squad clique. But when tragedy struck in the form of Big Pun's untimely death in 2000, Remy's future as an artist was put into question, with her mentor no longer around to show her the ropes.

However, Fat Joe stayed true to his slain comrades wishes, continuing to mold Remy Ma as an artist and together, they eventually hit it big with their 2004 hit, "Lean Back," which shot to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was proof of the pair's undeniable chemistry. Capitalizing on the momentum by releasing her debut LP, There's Something About Remy: Based on a True Story, in 2006, it looked as if Remy was primed for a lengthy run as rap's resident "it" girl. But unfortunately, an altercation between Remy and a friend would result in her being sentenced to eight years in prison in 2008, effectively putting her career on hold indefinitely.

During Remy Ma's incarceration, Fat Joe would continue to be one of the most consistent veterans in the rap game, scoring multiple hit records while solidifying his legacy as one of the best to ever do it from the East Coast. However, he also ran into legal problems of his own in 2013. Don Cartagena would have to do a prison bid himself, serving four months in prison after pleading guilty to tax evasion.

Things would come full circle when Remy Ma was released from prison in 2014, with the two eventually teaming up to collaborate on the 2016 smash single, "All the Way Up," which earned two Grammy nominations and created a strong enough buzz that the they collaborated once again for their recently released album, Plata O Plomo, which has been capturing the ears of rap fans since its release earlier this month and has garnered a considerable amount of acclaim. Songs like "Money Showers" and "Heartbreak" are just a few of the standouts on the project.

After giving Fat Joe and Remy Ma's latest long player a spin, we've picked out 35 of the best lyrics from Plata O Plomo. Did your favorite make the cut?
