Bobby Shmurda is currently serving a bid on Riker's, but he's been keeping his writing hand busy, kicking a freestyle for Meek Mill and Trav through the wire recently. Trav posted the phone conversation to Instagram on Monday (Feb. 27), writing, "Me And Bro @meekmill On The Line With Lil Bro @bobby_shmurda #FreeThe9 Made Him Freestyle Real Quick."

Before getting into the bars, which don't entirely translate through speakerphone, Shmurda says he's been doing well. "Man, I’m good. I’m getting big, man. I’m writing every day. I got some shit, man," he says. He then kicks off his free with, "Hating ass niggas never going nowhere…" before rapping about the work he keeps on the stove.

Earlier this month, Shmurda pled guilty to one count of attempted promoting prison contraband, admitting that he tried to sneak a shank into jail. It was reported in December that Shmurda was nearing a plea deal in the case that would have him avoiding perjury charges.

In October, he was sentenced to one to three years for conspiracy in the fourth degree and seven years for criminal possession of a weapon. According to the New York Daily News, Shmurda told the judge he was forced to take his plea deal. “I was forced to take this sentence. I don’t want to take this sentence,” he said. “I want to drop my plea.”

His attorney Alex Spiro said of that previous plea, “His sentence of seven years, with credit for two years already served and good time credit will hopefully permit him to be home in approximately three-and-a-half years and resume his remarkable career."
