Podcast Personality Taxstone Held Without Bail As Witness Comes Forward

On Tuesday, it was reported that hip-hop podcast personality Taxstone had been released on $500,000 bail and given house arrest after being arraigned in New York City federal court on a weapon possession charge and receiving a firearm by interstate commerce in connection to the 2016 Irving Plaza shooting that left rapper Troy Ave injured and his bodyguard Ronald "Banga" McPhatter dead.

Now, a Manhattan judge has reversed the decision after prosecutors claimed witness testimony would "directly show" he killed Banga that fateful night at Irving Plaza last year.

The Daily News reports Manhattan Federal Judge Lewis Kaplan decided to keep Tax, real name Daryl Campbell, without bail for the time being after hearing continued arguments from the prosecution today. Prosecutors claimed Campbell poses a danger to the community and said additional charges would be brought against the podcast host relating to the new witness testimony.

Kaplan said the prosecution's argument influenced his decision to revoke bail. Campbell's lawyer Kenneth Montgomery argued his client isn't violent and accused the prosecution of misrepresenting Tax as a gang member by using statements he made on his podcast.
