Lil Yachty is expanding his business endeavors. The 2016 XXL Freshman is becoming a creative designer for the Nautica brand. Lil Boat will design capsule collections and appear in advertising campaigns, according to a report by WWD.

"We would like to proudly introduce the newest member to the Nautica family!" the brand wrote on Instagram today (Jan. 6). "Say hello to @lilyachty - a Nautica Creative Designer for 2017. Welcome to the boat⛵️."

Lil Yachty has been a longtime support of Nautica, so the move makes a lot of sense. Lil Boat previously served as the face of a Nautica capsule collection for Urban Outfitters.

“Nautica is like a part of me,” Lil Yachty said. “It’s for kids, sailors, grown men and cool people.  The designs — the old designs, the new designs, I think it’s dope. There’s not really much out there like Nautica.”

Nautica is clearly hoping that the self-proclaimed "king of the youth" will help them reach a young demographic. Karen Murray, the president of Nautica, spoke about the brand's excitement over Lil Yachty's involvement.

“We are excited to be collaborating with Lil Yachty this year,” Murray said. “He is much more than just a music artist. He is a creative soul. His innate passion and affinity for the brand, fabulous taste level and the way he looks in our clothes, make him the perfect partner for the Nautica brand.”

Lil Yachty may not have the approval of hip-hop heads, but he's firmly established himself as a brand. The young artist's new gig adds to his list of accomplishments, which includes an ad campaign for Sprite.
