Currensy and Freddie Gibbs to Collaborate on Joint EP ‘Fetti’
Curren$y might be slowing down his release schedule, but he’s already got one new project in the works. The New Orleans rapper went on social media today (Jan. 4) to announce a collaborative EP with Freddie Gibbs. The newly formed duo’s first project will be titled Fetti.
“Called my homie Gibbs and told him it’s time lets put the EP together,” Curren$y wrote on Instagram. “Homie hit the slopes and sent me this hahaha clearly its a green light haha…. “fetti” the EP coming in 17″ …. Spitta and Gibbs that pistol to ya ribs ….. Peep how cold he is on the skis tho haha that’s commendable @freddiegibbs.”
The project announcement comes after Spitta declared his intent to stop dropping monthly mixtapes like he did last year. The Jet Life leader kept up a furious pace that saw him release 13 projects over the course of 2016.
“Not that it was a bad thing, but month after month, you drop another project and some people lose focus — they didn’t catch up to that one, but they caught on to the other ones,” Curren$y said. “They might’ve missed 10/30, but they have 11/30. I wanna give people a chance, that’s why we gonna fall back for a few.”
While fans patiently wait on Curren$y and Gangsta Gibbs’ debut as a duo, they can check out another collaboration that Gibbs recently cooked up with Young Buck and Hit Skrewface. The veteran MC teamed with Buck and Skrewface for a track called “Overtime,” which appears on the Strictly 4 the Traps N Trunks 111 mixtape.
