TMZ ran a story today (Jan. 17) stating that Chuck D was supportive of comedian Steve Harvey's much-maligned meeting with President-elect Donald Trump. The Public Enemy member clarified what he meant since there was no actual quotes in the piece. Chuck D emphasized that he wants to see Trump's inauguration protested. He also said Harvey's meeting was not as big of a deal as some made it out to be.

"@tmz not exactly what I said but it aint like im goin to DC," Chuck D wrote on Twitter. "Inauguration should be protested but SteveHarvey aint a issue on this nex 4yr BS."

The legendary rapper also expressed his appreciation for all the artists speaking out against Trump. He specifically highlighted the actions of T.I. as being commendable.

"I said this for the past 2 months @Tip barking is necessary, We BACK it up with some BITE," he wrote. "Its what rappers do , bring noise & WE support."

T.I. has been very vocal about his opposition to Trump. The "What You Know" MC even penned an open letter to the incoming president.

"Maybe I should take the time to share what many of US would like you to see," T.I. wrote to Trump. "Should it ever at times seem as though WE are against YOU, I assure you it’s a result of YOU defining yourself as the representative for those who are and who always have been against US. The deck has always been stacked against US in this country. With every generation there has been strategic steps taken to oppress, imprison and control US. All we’ve ever wanted was equality and empathy as the historically disenfranchised citizens that we are, in a nation that we’ve contributed to just as much as anyone else who calls America their home.”

Chuck D and T.I. are far from the only hip-hop artists to chime in on Trump. YG and Snoop Dogg have also spoken negatively about the upcoming inauguration.
